You know that you have a veterinarian that knows your pet and his/her medical conditions personally. We do all vaccinations and general check ups. A lot of conditions can be prevented by the knowledge we impart to you and general semi annual check ups can catch something that you might have never seen, like a small malignant tumor hiding somewhere that you may not notice. Surgery



                 

       

            
Here at Westheimer Animal Clinic we do a lot of surgery. We have state-of-the-art equipment to ensure the highest level of accuracy. We monitor all body functions while patients are under. We have up to the minute figures on oxygen level, heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and an ecg. Plus we run presurgical labwork to make sure there are no indescrepincies with their internal organs. We understand that your pet is another member of your family, just like a son or daughter. Whether you need your pet spayed or neutered or something much more technical like repairing a cruciate ligament or shattered bones, we can help you.

We also can deal with almost any dental issue your pet may have. From gingivitis to a cracked tooth, we can help. Routine dental cleaning (when they need it) can prevent a lot of other health issues. Take a look at your pet's teeth. If you see a bunch of tarter or a red gumline, then you can imagine swallowing all that infection all the time. This can in turn affect the throat, heart, and other things. We, unlike a lot of other clinics, do not use anesthesia for routine teeth cleaning thus lessening the risk factor. We use only "concious sedation" via a stage 2 sedation, a drug called propofol. They use this exact same drug in people for colonoscopies and other minor procedures. We find that it takes very little time for animals to fully wake up and be walking around and back to normal. Alot less than if you were to use a gas anesthetic.

Radiology

We are equipped with a new digital x-ray unit. This produces the clearest and sharpest images in much less time than using an older film processor. We can manipulate images much more to see certain aspects of the image more clearly. Also, there are no chemicals involved anymore, which is nice. We are able to diagnose an issue faster now and in some situations every minute counts. From an upset stomach, to broken bones, to obtructions, or even tumors we are able to diagnose it with this new technology.

International Pet Shipping

Shipping your pet out of the United States is difficult and involves a lot of government paperwork. Stephanie Maldonado, our Hospital Manager, is an expert at shipping pets internationally. Stephanie has been shipping pets for nine years and has never had a problem she wasn't able to conquer. She finds a solution for every challenge and can make arrangements for you to ship ship your pet anywhere in the world.

Whether you are relocating your home or just going on vacation, Stephanie is the one to contact. In recent months, she had made arrangements for pets to be shipped to the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Singapore, Hawaii, and Australia

Most countries do require time for paperwork or quarantine, so as soon as you know your pet will need to travel, call Stephanie. Please allow the following times to give us ample time to make arrangements.  Below are suggested times it take to make arrangements to various countries. 
United Kingdom...................7-8 months
Hawaii...............................5-6 months
Spain.................................1 month
France................................1 month
Singapore............................1-2 months
Australia..............................6 months

We can, if needed, refer you to all kinds of different specialists. For anything from cateract surgery to Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy. We can get you where your pet needs to go.

Boarding

We have a huge boarding facility here as well. It is located behind the main building down the driveway. We have cages and runs. The cats stay in another area away from all the dogs to reduce stress. If you choose your cat can stay in one of our kitty condos, which is a double cage with 2 different areas in it. It is up in the main building in a totally quit room away from any noise. We can also let them out in the room to play in the daytime with our daycare option if you would like. You can leave your pets with us and know that they'll be in good hands. The good thing about boarding here is that we have medical care available if there is a medical problem or emergency. We keep our facility very clean. All pets get a nice bed to lay on and walked 4-5 times a day. We provide all the food, if you don't bring your own, at no additional charge to you. Your pets are in the best hands here possible.

Daycare

We have daycare sessions available twice daily, indoors and outdoors depending on the weather and temperature. The pets get together and have a great time. We throw balls and toys with them and get that excess energy out of them so when you come pick them up in the evening, you can just enjoy the good company with your good friend when you get home.
Note: We do have individual playtime for pets that may not get along with others.

Bathing and Grooming

We offer bathing and grooming services as well. Everyone needs a bath once in a while. We'll do all the work for you. You can drop off for a while and come back and you'll have a great smelling and looking pet. We can also help with flea and tick problems.


Clyde is our groomer. He's top notch and really takes his time with the animals and genuinely cares about them. The animals really respond well to him. In Houston, with all the heat in the summer, a lot of people have their pets get a summercut. It also will get rid of that shedding problem and all the hair that's everywhere in your house. If your pet needs a 1st class haircut, Clyde's your man.
